This article is the sequel from the previous post, Useful Items for Your Baby (Part 2)

Through these series of article, we want to share our experience about items that are quite useful for attending your baby from birth to 6 months old. Our hope, other family can avoid the same mistake we have, buying things for your baby base on trial and error.

Fitness Equipments for Baby

Health and physical activity are walking side-by-side.

What an idea! Your baby also needs to be on top notch by burning their fats and train their muscles through physical exercises.

Why is this so important? Because it gives babies the opportunity to explore, develop and improve their physical skills at their own pace. Physical activity will stimulate babies sensory system, emotional, cognitive and physical development. It will also increases your baby’s confidence in his or her abilities and in trying new activities. Babies will be more efficient in using their bodies while enhancing their readiness for learning, rolling, crawling and walking, by doing continuous physical activity. Hearing, seeing, reaching, touching, pushing, pulling, rolling, and kicking are also basic activities that can be provided by these toys. These toys are simple enough, forget about complicated adult fitness equipments here.

Pre-crawler babies need fitness equipments (read: toys) to play with. Some of toys vendors in the market promote these kind of toys as ‘baby gym toys‘. There are many brands and selections of products available in the market. Quality and usefulness of each products are also varies. You have to choose it wisely, which product suitable for your baby, or you will start to stock junks at home (sadly admitted, like us Embarassed).

We only have a few items that fits into this category. We have a Fisher-Price Baby Play Zone Kick & Whirl Carnival and a Tiny Love Gymini® Super Deluxe Lights & Music. We think they are enough until our baby starts to learn to sit sit upright unassisted and crawling in 1 or 2 months from now. Therefore, we will stick with these toys for awhile.

Fisher-Price Rainforest BouncerOther product that (at least it works for us) drives the baby impulse to do physical activity is the Fisher-Price Rainforest™ Bouncer. Basically, it is just a comfort chair for babies (maybe it is just like a La-Z-Boy Recliner for us). Somehow, our baby loves to ‘bounce‘ a lot while sitting on it, especially when he hear the tune plays.

In our point of view, there are many ways to stimulate physical activity and cognitive development of your baby. Almost all toys can help your baby to learn and to do activity, both physically and mentally. Therefore, choose wisely, select only toys that can help your baby to learn and develop.
